CS: GO 30th October Patch – Content Analysis

This week’s Counter-Strike: Global Offensive patch has arrived bringing some more updates to the spectator UI, along with a couple new features and some seasonal surprises. Full details below.

SPECTATING
- Spectating and dead players can now view a series of graphs displaying player/team statistics over time. Graphs are bound to lastinv (q, by default).
- Fixed Avatars being overly bright for the selected player.
- When a player is damaged, their outline is filled with a flashing red ‘damage amount’ indicator.

MAPS
- Adjusted the de_nuke B site particles a bit to make it sort correctly with smoke grenade smoke.

COMMUNITY SERVERS 
- Added experimental support for coaches, which are effectively permanently dead teammates. To enable, set sv_coaching_enabled 1. To coach a team, type either ‘coach t’ or ‘coach ct’.
- Added concommands mp_pause_match and mp_unpause_match which will flag the match to pause indefinitely during freeze time and cancel the pause, respectively.

MISC
- Added detection of the case when a client downloads the latest version of a game update and becomes unable to reconnect to their ongoing competitive match on an older game server version. Minimal competitive matchmaking cooldowns will be assigned in this case, and will not increment client’s competitive offense level.
- Added server convar sv_force_transmit_players to allow networking player entities to all clients.
- Money of dead players will now more reliably network to teammates at round end instead of waiting until round restart.
- Fixed item icon cache retaining cached icons for items that you no longer own. Should reduce disk usage significantly for frequent traders.
- Fixed the death notice text sometimes getting truncated (and skipping the victim names).
- Fixed two hardcoded UI elements – they now properly use localized tokens.

New Features

We have a couple of new features introduced with this week’s patch.

Coaching Support

Added experimental support for coaches, which are effectively permanently dead teammates. To enable, set sv_coaching_enabled 1. To coach a team, type either ‘coach t’ or ‘coach ct’.

We now have the first pass at an experimental coaching system which allows for a spectator to pick a team during warm up to coach by giving him the ability to cycle through the selected team’s first person camera views, as well as seeing a map overview and their status/money/etc.

Freeze Time Match Pause

Added concommands mp_pause_match and mp_unpause_match which will flag the match to pause indefinitely during freeze time and cancel the pause, respectively.

It is now possible for a server admin to trigger a pause that happen during the next round’s freeze time.

A notification is displayed when this command is triggered.

The pause can be cancelled at any time, displaying a new notification.

The pause freezes the 15 second timer and doesn’t allow for any purchasing. Upon entering the unpause command the standard freeze time will start to countdown like normal.

Ghost Cam

If a player dies in an area where your death cam is placed you will see a ghost left behind from that player.

UI Updates

The updates to the spectator system continue to roll in improving the spectating experience week after week.

Spectator UI – Graphs

Spectating and dead players can now view a series of graphs displaying player/team statistics over time. Graphs are bound to lastinv (q, by default).

There a are a number of different graphs that are now available allowing you to do direct comparisons between the two teams or players.

Total Damage Dealt Graph

You can select the type of graph by using the dropdown box in the top left corner, from there you will have a list of players from each team which you can select to run comparisons on.

Total Kills Graph

You can hover over the pips to see more detail regarding that section of the graph.

Equipment Value Graph

You will also have a list a rounds at the bottom of the graph and what the win condition was (either through kills, defuse or bomb).

Cash Amount Graph

The graph can be accessed by pressing the last weapon key, default q.

Total Kill Cash Graph

The team switch is also represented in the graph and allows for an easy check between the start of the first half compared to the second half.

The team averages are also represented in the foreground via the use of the faded fatter lines.

Spectator UI – Damage Indicator

When a player is damaged, their outline is filled with a flashing red ‘damage amount’ indicator.

Another nifty addition is a new damage indicator which is represented by a red flashing overlay on top of the player’s model which will slowly increase in height based on the amount of damage that is being taken.

    Matt, after this 2 patch , I can’t instal the game. it’s get error Between 99% and 100% than crash down. How can i repair it?

    EDIT: It’s funny, at my LapTop it’s working…. I reinstaled steam(PC), and it didn’t work.

    Ok, if we wants heroes for dota 2, then we need only 2 people working on Dota.
