This week’s Dota 2 patch has arrived bringing the starting point for the long awaited tutorial, another bundle of cosmetic item sets and more. You can view the full changelog here.

Front End Changes
In Game Tutorial System
Following on from last week’s introduction of the in game guide system, we now have the first stepping stones of the major Dota 2 tutorial system which is played out in a form of quests in order to help keep new players engaged.
Upon entering the quest option the player will be greeted with the following map.
The first tutorial map introduces you to Dragon Knight and gives the player an idea of how to move the hero around and navigate the map.
I won’t spoil the rest so you’ll have to check it out for yourself in game!
For those of you who want a large copy of the map you can find one below.
Hero Animation Updates
We have a few animation updates in this patch for existing hero models.
Dragon Knight’s Animations
As well as the new tutorial introduction animation that we got for Dragon Knight in last week’s patch we also have a loadout animation for Dragon Knight’s pose on the loadout page.

Keeper of the Light’s Animations
Keeper of the Light has a new bow animation which is used in the tutorial.

Razor’s Animations
Razor also has a tutorial introduction animation.

Slark’s Animations
Slark has a custom animation for the Ripper cosmetic item featured in this week’s patch, he also has started to receive some injured animations.

Hero Ability & Hero Icon Updates
We have some updates to Lina’s icons in this patch.

Visual Updates
We have some visual updates for some of the in game item particles effects.
Mjollnir
New shield particle effect and the lightning arc effect has also been updated.

Abyssal Blade
An abyssal blade icon is now displayed above the affected hero after the debuff has been applied.


Templar Asassasin
Templar Assassin’s Third Insight set now has a custom particle effect for her blades.

Shadow Shaman
As well as the new Ether Shock sound effects, Shadow Shaman’s also has some updates to his ability particle effects.




Zeus
Zeus has had a number of tweaks to his ability effects, improving the overall visual quality of his lightning effects.




New Community Treasure Chest
Continuing the recent trend we have another new treasure chest containing items made by the community, the chest also features a new set of unusual couriers featuring the Crystal Rift unusual effect.

UI Updates
It’s now possible to set a custom rich presence status.

The custom status will be displayed in the rich presence system. Cycling with your normal status.

On the live games page you can now filter for team matchmaking games.

Items that are equipped will be tagged in the backpack with an icon in the corner to quickly give you an idea of what items you have equipped.

The quest system is now available which features the first tutorial map.

The Workshop now has a button for viewing existing compiled models.

It is now possible to examine chests and preview the range of cosmetic items that are contained inside.
