The Dota 2 Polycount contest has come to an end and tonight Valve will have to make the tough decision of picking from some of the best cosmetic item sets that Dota 2 has seen so far. This blog post features what I believe are the best sets that have been entered into the contest and gives you a nice/easily place to view them all.

I know it’s a matter of opinion but i think our phantom lancer set is maybe if not the best, one of the best made for the hero, ’cause of his theme and synergy with the hero character.Not to mention the quality of work. And it’s certainly better than other entries you’ve included for other classes. So maybe you’d like to look in it and include it in the list.       Next week’s update will add the winning sets to the game’s shop and drops. Other sets are said to come in January.

    Some of these sets distort the shape of some heroes. Already Omniknight can be hard to immediately identify when in a full set. You can sometimes have a lapse of memory/sanity and forget what heroes the opposing team has, and when an unfamiliar shape appears out of the fog in the middle lane, you may have to take some time to figure out which hero it is.

    The Spirit Breaker set in this post, for example, might make him look more like Ursa to some people (scrolling down I know I thought it was Ursa) – this may surprise some people in certain situations. I think it goes without saying how different Outworld Destroyer looks.

    TF2 has the same problem. If shape altering sets are to be introduced, client side options to disable cosmetics should be added to help prevent any chance of possible confusion. Please bear that in mind.

    The only problem is that these are high detail renders (or thats what it looks like to me) and in most cases not an accurate example of what it will look like inside the game.

    I have a sneaking suspicion there will be a set or two that most people brushed off that make it into the winners circle.

    lot of sets just don´t fit to dota 2 art style, looks like they fell from some mmorpgs, some are overdetailed, some don´t respect color theme

    Wow some of these look really good, that pudge set isn’t one of them though, also Slardars Royal Slithereen Guard Set makes him look like a hydralisk lol, I really like that warlock one with the cool looking golem and the lone druid with the panda!
